Lineal

Line is one of the most basic foundations of visual art. As artists, we use it to express who we are in a physical medium. My practice is concerned with identity; playing with time, space, and memory through an autobiographical analysis of class, gender, labor, and diaspora. Using discarded building supplies, such as lumber, electrical conduit, building plans, etc. I have been able to relate the materiality of the work directly with my experiences working with my dad’s small family construction company in New York City. Lineal explores both the formal qualities of line as well as my own family history and lineage.
